A gift from my sister, these Bluetooth headphones are the best noise cancelling pair out there that anyone who is looking for comfort & good sound quality would love to have.
These have a good range of volume and the active noise cancellation makes it an obvious choice for noisy travel situations. The set has got good base and good sound clarity. And it has intuitive touch controls.
Sony also has a companion app to control the settings for the headphone. The app provides options for Adaptive Sound Control, Equalizer, Voice control and much more. There is only so much you would need for day to day usage.
These headphones can be used at 10 meters (without obstacles) as tested. Obstacles may cause drops.
The battery lasts for around 10 days, used 2-3 hours daily. But you can always use it with a 3.5 mm cable in case the battery runs out while travelling.
The headphones come with their own case. The fabric covered hard-case is sleek, functional and provides ample protection. The headphones themselves are a very comfortable pair, but your ears can get a little hot with extensive use and they are also not comfortable to sleep with.
The touch controls, though intuitive, need some getting used to. They sometimes do not respond as expected or it could be my personal usage issue. The idea of cupping the headphones to hear outside noises electronically is a great feature when you do it correctly.
If you have multiple devices which you need to connect to then this pair would not do that. You do have to disconnect from one device and pair with the other and that can get tedious. The lack of seamless connectivity for such a high-end device is a downer. But, I personally rarely use it in such a situation and was not affected much.
For most people, the only real negative would be the price, unless of course, you get it as a gift. ;)
Verdict:
A great set of wireless noise cancelling headphones. They are expensive but are worth their price. The pricing is competitive for the market, especially with the features at offer.
Pick these up if the price isn’t a concern. You will have no regrets.
Note: As I write this, a newer version of the same pair of headphones (Sony WH-1000XM4) are expected in the market soon and that would possibly drive down the price of this version. So, you might want to wait before you get a set.
